About Us
The club was formed in 1960 by a small group of modellers, and was originally known as the
East Ham and District Model Railway Society. After moving to Barking in 1970 the name was
changed to the Barking and District Model Railway Society, and we continued to flourish
under that name at several locations in the Barking and Dagenham area.
In May 2008 we moved our clubroom back to the club's
original roots - East Ham. Following the move we
also changed our name to East Ham and District Model Railway
Club, to reflect our return to East Ham. In 2014 we
moved again, this time further out of London and are
situated very close to Elm Park station. The current
clubroom is unfortunately only
a temporary clubroom as it is rather
restrictive and so we are still looking for a
permanent venue to site our clubrooom.
The club today has more than 25 members covering a wide range of ages and interests. New
members are always welcome, whether you are an experienced modeller or are just starting and
want to learn more about the hobby
We have layouts in OO9 and EM, which have been seen at exhibitions
around the country. We are hoping to make a start
soon on a new OO. To read descriptions

contact us by email or phone for more details on
where we meet.
Meeting Times
The club is available to members seven days a week throughout the year, but the main club night
is on Thursdays. Members usually start to arrive from about
7pm onwards. Small groups also
meet at other times, such as the EM
group on Wednesday evenings. There is often activity
at weekends, especially when panic sets in just before an exhibition.
New members are always welcome, so if you are interested,
contact us, and come along and have a chat
and see what goes on.
